Description
Almonds are among the most popular and appreciated dried fruits and oil seeds. They are the seed of the almond tree, a plant belonging to the Rosaceae family like the peach tree, which we recognise by its beautiful white or pinkish flowers that appear in spring. Cultivation is widespread throughout the Mediterranean.
Because of their versatility, almonds lend themselves to many tasty preparations and uses, such as cakes, biscuits, the famous amaretti biscuits, but also almond milk, a fresh summer drink, or almond paste, widely used in Calabria, up to almond butter, as an alternative to the classic almond butter.
