Description
Prosciutto di San Daniele (PDO) is a cured raw ham that has been recognised as a Denomination of Origin product since 1970 by the Italian State with Law n. 507 and since 1996 by the European Union as a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) product because its characteristics are due to the particular geographical environment, which includes natural and human factors.
It is produced by 31 companies in the municipality of San Daniele del Friuli, in the province of Udine, according to the methods defined by the relative production regulations, which have the force of law. Certified hams are branded with the Consortium mark, which includes the producer’s identification code.
